I recently purchased Master Jesse Tsao "Shaolin Luohan 13 Postures" and I am wondering what is the history behind these series of movements. When were they created and by whom? Any information on this set of exercises would be appreciated.

Hi Maria,
Thankyou for your response. I have already looked at the site you mentioned. The words "Shaolin & Luohan" are used within chinese martial arts/exercises to denote a lot of systems and seem to be a general term. I was more interested to know origns recent or otherwise of the "Shaolin Luohan 13 Postures" taught in Master Jesse Tsao DVD. Some of the movements I have seen on "YouTube" seem to have or have influenced Hsing -I

Right. What Jesse is teaching is Shaolin Luohan Qigong, it is not Luohan Quan. My understanding is that Shaolin had warrior monks and "scholar" monks. This Qigong part was developed by/for the scholars, to get the energy moving after hours of studying and meditation.
