yin jin jin & 8 Brocades?

For discussing Chinese Qigong-related practices, such as Yi Jin Ching (Tendon Transforming Exercise), Six Healing Sounds (Liu Zi Jue), Five Animal Frolics (Wu Qin Xi), Eight Piece Brocades (Ba Duan Jin), and more. Here is also the place to discuss Tai Chi used for meditation and healing.

yin jin jin & 8 Brocades?

Postby vvanesse59 on Mon Nov 02, 2009 12:16 am

Been reading Dr. Yang's book "Qigong, the Secret of Youth" which is yi jin jing and xi sui jing qigong. Havent gotten into studying yet but beginning to understand the potential dangers especially in the xi sui jing.
My question for now is really rather simple I think: Is the 8 brocades another dynamic qigong of very similar goals. As I understand it, yi jin jing and 8 Brocades both deal with the meridians. Does anyone understand more in depth as to why one should learn yijin jing? One thing that comes to my attention is that it appears the yi jin jing qigong also deals with the 8 special meridians. I am unable to confirm anywhere that the 8 brocades does stimulate those 8 special -it does deal with the "girdle meridian" in the set Jesse teaches on the dvd but dont know if others are actually actively stimulated. Anyone?
I must do a LOT more studying before I get too involved in xi sui jing (if at all). Fantastic book about the qigongs though.

I would welcome any input on yi jin jing both from Jesse's dvd and any other information available from persons on this board. Vic :?:

Hi Vic,

Yes, 8 Piece Brocade also deals with meridians. For example, in the posture of the archer riding a horse, we work on opening the the lung meridian. Bending backwards and then forward with the hands rubbing the back of the legs is for the bladder channel. Others are for stomach, liver, kidney, triple burner, etc.

I am not too strict on the type of Qigong I practise. I often mix 8 Piece Brocade and Yi Jin Jing, I do the postures that I know will make me feel good that particular day. One of the keys is to take it easy, relax and enjoy :-)

I am wondering if Jesse's YJJ dvd teaches about the meridians in depth as he does on the 8 Brocades dvd? Onn the trailer he has with the dvd sample it appears he does go more in depth as he has a acupoint chart and discusses points on it being YJJ stimulated. Am I correct?
