Distance Learning Question

For discussing Chinese Qigong-related practices, such as Yi Jin Ching (Tendon Transforming Exercise), Six Healing Sounds (Liu Zi Jue), Five Animal Frolics (Wu Qin Xi), Eight Piece Brocades (Ba Duan Jin), and more. Here is also the place to discuss Tai Chi used for meditation and healing.

Distance Learning Question

Postby XiaBaihu on Wed May 14, 2008 1:13 am

Ok so I have a question Im not sure anyone has asked but Im sure many especially those who are training through distance are running across at least once in thier training, does the distance learning certification really work or better asked would be has anyone done the distance learning program and gone on to teaching? I've been studying fundamentals and silk reeling for about a year and a half now and have been pondering taking the test but everytime I work up to it I always talk myself out of it, like Im not ready for it. So I moved to trying out some of the local dojo or martial arts schools but I honestly keep coming back to my Taiji training because to be honest I find it much more natural and much more effective for self defense. I mean I know the process, study the dvd's, video yourself doing the lesson (with form, analysis of movements, applications, etc...), pay the certification and send it all in. And when you can go to the workshops to refine the technique, I was just wondering has anyone run into this problem, or has advice or has gone through the program and taught classes? If anyone could let me know I would really really appreciate it, thanks :D

:? unfortunately I think it is impossible to answer you now, because the distance certification is online since a few months only ( less than 6 months I think).

I am not sure someone has already get this certification :?:

I can understand that, I guess I was curious as to if anyone had run into a wall or trouble in thier home training with thier confidence in thier Tai Chi and thier understanding of it. What I mean is I've been doing fundamentals and silk reeling for a while now and Im honestly not sure if Im doing them right or not, I understand that one way to tell is if your silk reeling techniques have peng and lu very apparent throughout the movement. I mean I guess i could be making all of this harder than it needs to be which is possible I think, im not sure. Hopefully thats not too confusing if it is I appologize,

I am also a distant learner and I go to workshops. During those workshops I meet complete beginners, I mean people who have never practiced taiji so with all the explanations Master Tsao gives in his DVDs I never look like a beginner. I already know the theory, when the master who is teaching during the workshop explains something, I can concentrate myself on what he is saying, what the other are doing and asking questions if I see a difference between what I am doing and what some other ones are doing.

But I am sorry : what do you mean exactly with peng and lu very apparent ? and doing it harder ? I do not understand.

Silk reeling is a way to gather energy, to become more supple, more balanced, so what are your feelings when you practice silk reeling ? Do you feel the energy ?

When you watch Master Tsao, do you find he is doing silk reeling "hard" ?

The Peng and Lu I refer to deal with the applications out of Silk Reeling for basic self defense, many of the movements in Silk Reeling have Peng (Ward off) and Lu (Roll Back) elements to them. As for making it harder what I was refering to was I think I was overthinking the movements, for instance when doing Silk Reeling does the body naturally shift slightly left and right or is it very stationary? So when I say Im making it harder I more or less mean in the details Im making it harder I think :) I haven't had a chance yet to go to one of his workshops but Im hoping in the next year to be able to... kind of busy with college, lol. I really appreciate the help and advice though, it kind of opens my eyes that maybe I might be doing this right and just have self doubt in my techniques :)

I'm not Andrey either. :-) But the link to the Certification page Andrey gave you is where and how you need to register as a distance student. On the page look under the VII. Distance Learning & Certification section 3 for the first "Pay Now" button Image. Click that button to pay and register for distance learning and certification. Master Tsao will email you and mail you the Tai Chi Fundamentals for Beginners DVD and the email will contain the electronic documents you will need for study and the written test. If you do not want to use PayPal you can mail the $175 USD to:

Master Jesse Tsao
5051 Sterling Grove Lane
San Diego, CA 92130
U.S.A

Hope this helps?

Distance learning registration

Postby Dale Whylde on Sun Jul 05, 2009 9:16 am

Hi, I don't know if you have started yet, but I have just registered and started my distance learning program.
I simply paid by paypal on the link on the website and immediatley recieved some emailed training aids and the written exam. I also received a DVD through the post a few days later. I am now working through the DVD and looking forward to sending my exam and videos to Healthways for my entry level instructor certificate.
All I say to you is, stop sitting on the fence and have faith in your abilities.

Regards, Dale :D [/b]
