Tai Chi Spear

Postby Scott on Wed Mar 04, 2009 5:49 pm

I just read an article about Tai Chi Spear. The link is below:

http://www.plumblossom.net/Articles/Ins ... index.html

The author states that Yang Lu Chan was never taught any weaponry by the Chen family. Later in the 1860s, a 4th generation Yang master demonstrated a spear form. The author again states that "there were no tai chi spear forms in all of China at that time; so many people believe that this was the first tai chi spear form ever created." I don't understand how that can be true. Didn't the Chen family have their own spear form(s)? Doesn't the Pear Blossom Spear/White Ape Staff Form which we are currently learning predate the 1860s?

Yep nowdays a lot of authors claims what they don't know. Yang Lu Chan was famous for his sword and for that reason he taught emperor guards.

Before Chen Wangting brought taijiquan Chen family were practicing external martial arts for ninth generations. Did Chen family have a spear? You becha! (c) Sarah Palin :)
